Historically, this is the first gaming room opened in Monte-Carlo. Reconstructed at the end of the 19th century by Henri Schmit, the Salon de l'Europe replaced the old Salle Mauresque dreamt up in 1878 by Charles Garnier. Still intact are its frescos inspired by the four seasons and the beautiful countryside surrounding Monaco, its sculptures and allegorical paintings, its early 20th century carpet, and the eight monumental chandeliers made of pure bohemian crystal, each weighing more than 150 kilos.
