In 1878, architects Charles Garnier and Dutrou were given a huge project; in keeping with Marie Blanc's wishes, and in a record time of just seven months, they were to build an opera house and a new casino in Monte-Carlo. They did it and the dazzling inauguration ceremony was attended by the celebrities of the epoch. Dutrou was in charge of the Atrium; he created a magnificent vestibule featuring columns supporting a gallery with balustrades. Two huge panels signed Jundt were later to complete the gallery's decor thus creating a perfectly harmonious ensemble. As soon as visitors enter the Casino, they see a brightly-lit room that houses 90 slot machines... all as entertaining as they are sophisticated. These include the famous 'Luxor Palace' progressive machine.
